A South Carolina man charged with six felony drug and weapon possession charges remains at the Lincoln County Detention Center with a preliminary hearing set for Jan. 28.
Kenneth L. Peek of Lexington was arrested on Interstate 80 after the Nebraska State Patrol seized nearly 30 pounds of marijuana, plus ecstasy, cocaine, mushrooms, Adderall, and a loaded semi-automatic 9mm pistol during a traffic stop near mile marker 187.
Peek was pulled over by a Nebraska State Trooper for speeding in his 2020 Honda Accord at 1:03 p.m. on Tuesday. A subsequent search ensued when the trooper noticed a THC oil vape cartridge in the center console of Peek’s vehicle.
Peek told police he had purchased 30 pounds of marijuana and other various drugs in Sacramento, California for roughly $40,000 and was headed back to South Carolina where he planned to double his money.
Bail was set at 10% of $50,000 by County Judge Joel Jay.
